Fans of historic racing will be able watch Rob venturing out again in the venerable 1969 Merlyn Formula Ford this weekend at the HSCC Super Prix at Brands Hatch. Following his previous, in his own words, unsuccessful outing last year (Historic Formula Ford, Brands Hatch GP Circuit....what no front brakes!!!!) Rob is hoping for better things this time. "Last time I was at Brands in the Formula Ford, I drove the entire weekend without any front brakes!! We  feel we have now solved this problem so hopefully I will be a bit more competitive".

Rob will be competing in two separate races during the Super Prix weekend, both in the Merlyn MK11a. The first on the Saturday will be the HSCC Chartland Properties Classic Racing Cars (CRC) series where Rob will be racing in class F of the multi class single seater championship. "The CRC races are amazing, you are lining up with beautiful 1960s Formula 1, 2 and 3. Obviously the Formula Ford cannot compete with these on pure pace but I am looking forward to a good race with the other class F cars". Rob's second race will be in the Grandstand Motorsports Historic Formula Ford Championship on the Sunday. "The Formula Ford Championship is a super competitive series where the name of the game is slip streaming and out braking. Last time I was out in the Formula Ford race, I don't think I have overtaken and been overtaken so many times in one race before, it was great fun. With the Formula Fords you are racing against people who have driven their Cars for years, sometimes over 10 years, which leaves me at a bit of a disadvantage as this is only the 3rd time I have driven the Car. Then again I finished 17th last time with no front brakes so I would be pleased if I could get into the top 10 or thereabouts. That said there will be a gaggle of other drivers trying to make sure I don't!!"

Rob will be at Brands Hatch from Friday 2nd July through to 4th, so why not come down and watch some fantastic historic racing, including the Historic Formula 1 Cars.
